What is traditional Usui Reiki?
Traditional Usui Reiki, also called Usui Reiki Ryoho, is an ancient healing method that was rediscovered in the mid 1800s. Rei is a Japanese word meaning universal, and it also is a reference to a higher dimension. Ki is the Japanese word for the vital life force energy which animates all life, and which interpenetrates and connects all. Although we all have access to Reiki energy, for many of us, the modern lifestyle blocks our ability to access this energy freely. Negative emotions such as fear, anger, distrust, greed, etc., also create blockages that shut off our access to this energy. When one becomes a Reiki Practitioner, one undergoes a series of attunements in which a Reiki Master places certain symbols in the energy field or aura. The attunements also allow the practitioner to channel Reiki healing energy more powerfully. The Reiki healing energy has been described as existing at a certain frequency, and the attunements act like a radio station preset button that allows the Reiki practitioner to instantly tune in to that frequency.
How does a Reiki session work?
Reiki is done fully clothed, usually with loose clothing for optimal relaxation. Often, the person receiving Reiki will lie down, and the Reiki practitioner will lightly place her hands over various points of the body, such as the major chakras. Reiki generally is done without any contact, and the hands are placed slightly above the body at various points. As the Reiki practitioner places her hands over the various areas of the body, she activates the channeling of Reiki healing energy. When the session is done remotely, the Reiki practitioner will visualize placing her hands over various areas of the body, and she may use a doll or other object to represent the person receiving Reiki. A session typically takes fifty minutes, and the cost can range from $100 for a session with a beginner or uncertified practitioner, to $500 for a Reiki session with a Reiki Master who has done Reiki full time for decades.
Book a Reiki session
There is limited availability for in-person sessions with Reiki Master Victoria Stevens in Sedona, Az, and Cottonwood for $250. For remote sessions, she prefers to have a few minutes at least for a virtual meet up on Teams at the beginning of the session. It is possible to keep this video session active for the entirety of the remote session, or to have no meeting at all, whatever the client prefers. It is possible to receive Reiki while doing other things, but many prefer to lie down and focus on relaxing, as often, they can feel the Reiki energy during the session. What can be expected after a Reiki session?
Some people experience mild detoxification symptoms after a Reiki session, and it it advised to consume plenty of clear water after a Reiki session. Although one can experience significant relaxation and healing after one session, if the cause of stress or illness persists, the tension or symptoms will return. Reiki is considered by most Americans to be a complementary practice to traditional western medicine, and it serves to enhance the efficacy of traditional western medical therapies. Reiki can help one heal from any circumstance or illness, but it is not advisable to forego other treatment modalities. Reiki is a complement to other therapies, and will help them work better. Reiki is wonderful when used to relieve stress, however one may need to make changes in one's lifestyle or thought processes in order to experience permanent stress relief.
What are the principles of traditional Usui Reiki?
Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Honor your parents, teachers, and elders.
Earn your living honestly.
Show gratitude to ALL living things . . . .
